The research projects carried out by students in different engineering schools allow them to face situations that strengthen their abstraction, synthesis, communication, and planning skills, which prove to be fundamental for their future professional selves.

Dengan ini saya ucapkan ‘Selamat’ kepada para mahasiswa Universitas Gadjah Mada yang telah berhasil mencapai tahap final Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Tingkat Nasional (PIMNAS) ke-30 yang diselenggarakan pada 23-28 Agustus 2017 di Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Makassar. Saya yakin menjadi finalis PIMNAS merupakan suatu kebanggaan tersendiri bagi Saudara, mengingat telah melalui proses panjang dan bekerja keras tanpa kenal lelah. Oleh karena itu, manfaatkan kesempatan berharga di PIMNAS ini untuk mengukir prestasi dan mendapat pengalaman serta pengetahuan baru. Keikutsertaan  Saudara dalam PIMNAS juga dapat meningkatkan reputasi UGM sekaligus menambah pandangan masyarakat atas prestasi ilmiah mahasiswa UGM di tingkat nasional.
